Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.

Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.

The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.

Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner soon after starting.

Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the main straight.

The veteran finished practice in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.

Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.

Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
