European Leaders Condemn US Move as ‘Intimidation’

Officials from Europe including the French president accused Washington of “bullying and threats”, after the travel bans were placed on figures that were central to efforts to introduce laws governing American tech companies.

“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to pressure American platforms to punish American viewpoints they oppose,” stated a senior US official in a social media post. “This government will not stand for such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials supported the French president in condemning the move.
